Typography

For this assignment I chose a clean, grid-like structure and selectively made some headlines larger than others.

Warm and Cool Designs

My warm and cool color designs were also originally posted on my other blog, but I've included them on this site as well.

These graphics are similar in terms of simplicity and their organic shapes, but convey very different images by altering the colors. Flames benefit from warm tones because it is not only realistic, but also attention getting. Water is more serene, and identified by its color, which is why cooler tones suit this image better.

Photoshop Assignment #1

This is a compilation I did a few weeks ago which layers a photo of a girl over the side of a car. The assignment was originally posted here.

I started with this image of the girl and cut her out.

The second image I used was this old car

My final result was this image.

Media Diets

Our media diet tracker has showed us that the ways in which people obtain information is changing rapidly. We rely most heavily upon online resources- especially social media sites like facebook, twitter, or foursquare which are relatively new on the scene. Oftentimes we use our mobile devices to access our news- whatever form it takes. Citizen journalism, usually via Twitter, tends to be the way major news stories are broken. This, however, only gives way to other more reliable sources which fact check. Other major news sites such as CNN, New York Times, and the Los Angeles Times take up a large piece of the pie as well. New broadcasting is another relatively constant form of spreading awareness. Smaller percentages of where we get our news are through print whether that be magazines or newspapers.
